Love stealthily clearing out pirate bases, all the machete attacks are amazing, the scripted levels are fun and can be a bit flexible, the platform mini games of the towers are fun with a good incentive for doing them (free guns), hunting has a point to it (more guns and ammo to carry). Combine that with characters you connect with and it could have been one of the greatest games.ĭon't get me wrong, the game play is awesome. The character is more real in that aspect, compared to other games unsympathetic "I'm the ultimate badass, sexual tyrannosaurs" characters you play. Sure you have your rambo moments but you can see the effect of it all on the character. Its a good idea to show how real people react in a situation like this rather than running around Rambo invincible with no psychological affects shown in other FPS. Once Jason gets on the island and has his mission it seems to be less about that and more about getting lost in the jungle, PTSD, going crazy after all the drugs and killing you do and coming to love it. The flash backs in Bangkok seems that way as far as dudebros using the indigenous people for entertainment only to be bit in the ass in the Rook Islands. Am I just expecting too much of my games? Liza crying when Jason told her he's staying (wasn't my decision, that's why I feel like I don't control my own destiny) was rough. I am not sure I would even chase after Hoyt after killing Vaas. The island makes you feel like a king, but is it really where you belong? Staying here never to see your family or friends again? Ditching Liza to stay with Citra? If I do go home how happy would I be with this studio gig Liza has lined up for me, the plans she has for us? After all that has happened, would I be too changed, would she just leave me a month when we get back? Staying on the island as the (figurative) king, where you feel like Citra "gets you" after all that has happen where as Liza wouldn't? Honestly its tough because I haven't killed 1000+ pirates to save my friends and loved ones (unlike Jason), but I think I would end up going back home instead of staying on the island. If I would end up choosing to go home or stay on the island.
